As we now have Zumba every Friday night the social dancing will not happen, instead we will run regular events. In August we have our major dance, The Burlesque Ball. Come along and dance all night. we have a band and a DJ. There will be prizes for the best outfits, lots of raffles and some surprise performances. Cost is $15 for adults. Please book. Our first Zumba class on Friday 23rd July was a massive success. Classes will be every Friday night at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.

Saturday 31st July there will be a Karaoke competition in the dance breaks at the Dance Centre, 172 Johnson St, Maffra. This is a licensed event, drinks at bar prices, no BYO please.

This is your chance to shine, drop in to the centre and chose your song from our list of over 2,500 by Saturday 24th July.

Categories are; Solo, Duo and Choir (any number above 2). There is a prize for the most entertaining in each category.

DJ for the night is the Big Rocker. Come along and join the fun.

From now on the Dance Centre will only be open on the first Friday night of the month for free social dancing until the weather is warmer. So the next  Friday night will be 6th August. We will keep you posted on special events coming up.

Get in early and book your table for the Decade of Dance, Burlesque and Cabaret theme on Saturday 28th August. Accommodation in town is getting scarce so book in early or you will be staying in a neigbouring town. The dance retail centre, a 2 minute walk from the hall, will be open from 7pm - 8pm on this night for those who want to check out the retro and dance gear before the night begins.

Congratulations to all the competitors who took part in this major dance event in Victoria, and particularly those who represented S'Coolhouse Dance Centre on Saturday 8th May at the Heritage Centre in Epping.

Greg and I were very proud to be associated with such a friendly,  and professional group of competitors. Your efforts and commitment were incredible and we hope you had a great time not only at the competition but also in the hours and months beforehand when you were preparing for the night.

Echuca classes also kicked off this week and it was great to see everybody keen and ready for another year.  We had 17 at Swing and 37 at Rock and Roll, who braved the very hot conditions.   Hope to see you all again next week.

Maffra dance classes for 2010 begin again in the first week of February.  Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary Street, Tap, 3 Year old Creative Dance and Ballroom will follow the school term of 8 weeks,  beginning Monday February 1st and finishing Saturday March 27th.

Rock & Roll, Swing/Lindy Hop, Latin and Linedancing will continue throughout the year.
